Located on the grounds of the Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Facility south
of Denver, HRPSTI conducts skills and classroom training leading to Colorado
Peace Officer certification. Exceeding State requirements, more than 546
hours of quality training is available to help realize our goal of providing
the best possible instruction to those seeking a career in law enforcement
in Colorado.
As a POST approved academy since 1997, 775 students in 42 classes have
graduated from HRPSTI. More than 98% of HRPSTI students pass the Colorado POST
certification examination on their first attempt and between 85% of graduates
begin or continue their careers in law enforcement fields.
Evening classes are held from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM Monday through Friday and
most Saturdays. Typically day classes are held Tuesday through Thursday,
7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. This day program is held for 23 weeks.
Many subject areas are more comprehensive at HRPSTI than other area schools.
Graduates who pass POST not only are qualified to serve in police departments
but also as sheriff's officers.
The state requires skills training in areas: driving, firearms and
arrest control. That training is provided as part of the basic training in
the program. This is an advantage to officers coming to Colorado from
out-of-state who wish to become certified in Colorado.
We are proud of the fact that the division of wildlife has chosen HRPSTI as
the academy they send their recruits for basic law enforcement training.
Financial Aid may include the use of Montgomery G.I. Bill.
All training except driving is done on-site. The campus is located
between Littleton and Castle Rock on highway 85. (Sante Fe Drive)
